All
our counsellors are professionally trained
to diploma level or equivalent qualification. They
are
expected to be
en-route to accreditation with BACP, (the British Association for
Counselling and
Psychotherapy) or UKCP
(United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) , and to
be on the UK
Register of
Counsellors.
As an organisational member of BACP we are bound
by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice
in Counselling and
Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure therein.
All our counsellors receive regular professional
supervision with an emphasis on strictly maintaining
confidentiality.
We are committed to quality assurance and evaluate our work.
We have a commitment to Kent University to
consider placements for those entering the last stages
of
qualification. Students have usually undertaken between 2-3yrs of training.
Paula
Shilling
Administrator
Paula has been at the hub of Waymark for
ten years. She is the person who clients usually have first
contact with. Paula arranges assessments and
appointments and manages the charity's affairs.
Paula
manages
the
room bookings and other essential activiteis such as
supporting the trustees and
ensuring
that
the
finances are ketp in order.
Jenny Wheeler
Counsellor
I have a Certificate and a Diploma in
Counselling. I work
with loss and bereavement,
trauma, depression, anxiety, stress, body
dysmorphia, domestic violence, sexual
abuse and addiction. I work with
couples and
individuals.

Atherden Counsellor
I have a Certificate and a Diploma in
Counselling and I am also a qualified Music
Therapist. I
combine work with individuals at the Waymark Trust and work in schools
with children and young adults.

Director
Having
qualified with
an MSc in Psychodynamic
Counselling from London
University
I
worked
in
schools,
and
with
teenagers,
adults
and
couples, I have managed a
counselling
service
in
Thanet
as
well
as
GP
based
counselling services. As
well as working at Waymark I am
currently studying for my doctorate in
psychoanalytic psychotherapy and am also a senior
lecturer in health at
Canterbury
Christchurch University.

Margaret
McCooey
Counsellor
I
have
worked
for
many years in family law, dealing with separation,
divorce, domestic
violence,
child
custody
matters
and
all
the
various disputes associated with
family breakdown. I decided to
become
a
counsellor
in
2003 and completed my certificate in
counselling, together with a diploma
in
child protection. I will be qualifying with my diploma in counselling
from the University of Kent in
2010.
I
facilitate
a
group for survivors of abuse, victims of domestic
violence, together with a
pastoral group in my
local church. I am part of, and support, a 12 step group for the families of
addicts and am
interested in helping
people survice trauma and upheaval. I am married
with
three
grown
up
daughters.
Yvonne
Prowse Counsellor
For
the
past
five years I have been studying counselling at the
University of Kent. I have gained
the certificate of counselling and I am now in the final
stages of the Diploma course. Previously I
worked as an occupational therapist. I am actively
involved in church activities and am a
member
of the prayer ministry
team.
I
have
a special interest in group work and facilitate a
women's
group within the church setting.
